Hello everyone, I am currently a Linguistics major and am preparing for the Translation Studies option that will be launched later this year at CSULB. I am also preparing for the National Board Certification exam for medical interpreters. I hope that all of this preparation will one day enable me to be a language facilitator for non-English proficients and health care providers through interpretation, or to work in the medical field as a translator of documents. As a first-generation student and as a first-generation immigrant, I would like to help others that go through the same experiences that I have. I have a background in the medical field, as I was a medical school student in El Salvador, my country of origin. I have also centered my college experience in the U.S. in linguistics and translation, which makes me think that the medical interpreting/translating field is very suitable for me.
Best of luck to all of you during this semester !
