My name is Joanna Tatro and I am a speaker of four different languages: English, French, Italian, and German (in order of acquisition). While obtaining my master's degrees in French and Italian, I studied language and literature, and I am currently pursuing a certificate in Translation Studies. I plan to use these skills to apply toward literary translation from French and Italian to English. I am drawn to the Translation profession for a myriad of reasons, but primarily, I enjoy the challenge of finding the closest approximation to the author's original expression of language. My ultimate goal is to obtain my PhD and translate Boccaccio's Decameron, which I am currently researching in order to develop my dissertation.
