Hello! My name is Ismael Aguilar-Polanco, but everyone calls me Ish (rhymes with fish). I'm majoring in Linguistics with an option in Translation Studies. I transferred to CSULB this semester from ELAC with an AA-T in Spanish, and I hope that at the end of my (admittedly long) journey to receiving my degree I can become either a translator or an interpreter between the Spanish and English languages. I'm still somewhat uncertain as to which I would prefer, but I'm looking forward to figuring that out along with all of you this semester. The reason I wanted to pursue a degree in this field is because I've always liked the feeling of helping the people in my community understand something in English, and I hope I can help make a difference in people's lives one day by providing information in their preferred language.
